The present firm of McVies, Writers to Her Majesty's Signet, has been established in Haddington for over 50 years. The firm originated in 1785 when Thomas Fairbairn set up his law practice in the same building. There followed a succession of lawyers operating from our present premises until Mr John McVie established the modern firm in 1947 which is now known as McVies WS. He was joined by his daughter Fiona Sheldon in 1971 who continues to practise as senior partner. Mr McVie retired after 50 years service in 1997. The partners in theis firm of East Lothian Solicitors are ably supported by Susan Wallace, Associate, Barbara Buchanan Conveyancing Assistant., Shirley Davidson and Dorothy Amos Consultants. Evelyn McVie is our Property Manager.
